Myths & misconceptions

We're not going to offer legal advice here but we'll try to explain some of the fuzzy areas where sound judgment may be more important than a Policy Manual or a stack of court decisions.
      There is much uncertainty about what is permitted and what words or behaviors might trigger a sexual harassment complaint. We've already discussed the obvious situations, so now let's explore a few of the gray areas. In several of the cases we haven't taught the issue, so just use your common sense and apply the guidelines that you've learned.
